What 𗲚 means
Tangut writing served Western Xia and outlived the state by centuries. The first Western Xia emperor oversaw the script's creation around 1036 to write Tangut. It adapted Chinese-like square forms for a separate language, serving official, private and religious writing; many surviving works are translations from Chinese and Tibetan. It remained in use after the Mongol conquest of Western Xia in 1227 and into the Ming, with Tangut texts attested as late as 1502.

1Why does 𗲚 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
