What 𗲙 means
It names wool cloth or clothing made from wool. “Woolens” is the English gloss in a Tangut dictionary entry linked to this character.
Tangut was created around 1036 for official and cultural writing in the Western Xia kingdom. It carried government records, private writing, Buddhist works, and translations from Chinese and Tibetan. After the kingdom fell, Tangut writing continued into the Yuan and Ming periods before becoming obsolete.
Is 𗲙 Chinese?
No. It belongs to the Tangut script. Tangut was modeled on the structure of Chinese regular script, but it writes a separate language. Its squared look explains the resemblance; it does not make this character Chinese.
Unicode’s structural description places 𘢸 above 𘤮 and 𘤕 in 𗲙; these are components, not three words to translate in sequence. When rendered, different Tangut fonts can draw 𗲙 differently, and a font without Tangut coverage may show a missing-glyph box.
Historical vocabulary from a written tradition.
Without Tangut context, a recipient may not recognize the textile term.
