What 𘤮 means
𘤮 is a Tangut component, not a standalone word.
Its role appears inside the full Tangut character that contains it. A component can hint at shape, meaning, or sound, but 𘤮 has no fixed translation or pronunciation by itself. Dictionaries use components as lookup parts, and scholars use them in Ideographic Description Sequences (IDS)—short strings that show how a character is built.
The number 303 is a Unicode sequence label, not a Tangut word or a universal radical rank. A radical is a part dictionaries use to group entries. Western Xia dictionaries (1038–1227) arranged entries by sound; modern Tangut references use different radical-and-stroke systems. A 2014 proposal labels this component Tangut radical R021.
What was 𘤮 used for?
A Tangut reference book shows 𘤮 as a left-side component.
The Tangut reference book Essential Selection of Often-Transmitted Homonyms and Mixed Characters groups components by where they sit in a character. Its left-side list pairs 𘤮 with 𘃡 as a sample character in regular script and cursive, a quick handwritten style. The sample shows 𘤮 inside a complete character; it does not give the component a reading of its own.
A surviving woodblock copy was sold at auction in Beijing in 2014. The sale dates this copy's provenance, not the book's creation.
Why does 𘤮 show as a box?
A box usually means the selected font lacks Tangut support.
Rendering is font-dependent: Unicode stores 𘤮 as one character and does not build a full Tangut ideograph from it. Without Tangut Components coverage in the selected font, you may see an empty box or another fallback mark.
Technical and specialist: it points to Tangut character analysis or dictionary work, not ordinary conversation.
Without the full Tangut character, 𘤮 has no word reading to translate.

1Why do I see a box instead of 𘤮?
