What 𗳒 means
It marks what an action is done with or by. In Tangut, 𗳒 is the instrumental marker: it connects an action with its means or tool. In one translation of a Huayan Buddhist text (from a Buddhist tradition), Chinese 以 (“by/with”) stands in for it; another translation leaves the marker out to follow its source wording.
When was Tangut writing used?
The Tangut script was devised around 1036 for the Western Xia state. It appears in books and inscriptions, including Buddhist texts; dated inscriptions include examples from 1502.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗳒 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
