What 𗳥 means
The Tangut gloss is “to exercise forbearance”: patient restraint. It describes holding back or enduring. Its shape can vary by font without changing the character.
Around 1036, Western Xia ruler Li Yuanhao established the Tangut script for state-building and Buddhist translation, distinguishing his state from Song China. It appears in official, private, religious, and translated texts, and remained in use under Yuan and Ming rule. The latest known inscription dates to 1502. 𗳥 combines the right-side element of 𘓯 (“give”) and the left-side element of 𗿒 (“big”); their glosses do not define it.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗳥 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
