What 𗶝 means
In Tangut, it means “multicolor.”
Created around 1036 under Western Xia’s first emperor to write Tangut, then spoken in what is now northwestern China, the Xixia script survives in official and private records, Buddhist works, laws, dictionaries, inscriptions, and manuscripts. It remained in use into the Yuan and Ming periods, becoming obsolete by the end of the Ming period. Scholars rediscovered it in the late 19th century and largely deciphered it in the early 20th century.
Tangut characters can resemble Chinese writing, but Tangut is an unrelated script for a different language.
