What 𗶪 means
It is a Tangut character, not a standalone English gloss.
The script took shape around 1036–1037 in the Western Xia state to write the Tangut language, including government records and Buddhist translations. Its design drew on Chinese and Khitan writing traditions but followed its own character-building rules. The latest known Tangut inscription is dated 1502, showing that the script remained in use after Western Xia ended.
Tangut rhyme tables group readings by shared endings. In the scholarly reconstruction, this character belongs to rhyme class R.74, with an ending transcribed as -iọ. That notation is a sound clue, not a translation.
Why does 𗶪 show as a box?
A box means your font or app cannot display Tangut.
The character is still in the text when a square, blank, or replacement mark appears; the font or renderer cannot draw its glyph. Fonts may also draw its strokes differently.
The setting is scholarly or historical: Tangut texts, language study, or checking font coverage.
Alone, it gives little conversational context; ask what text or test it came from.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗶪 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
