What 𗷽 means
It refers to something ill-omened or inauspicious.
𗷽 itself is Tangut, not Chinese; a Tangut dictionary uses the Chinese gloss 凶 to explain its meaning.
When did Tangut writing begin?
Tangut writing was created in 1036 for the Western Xia state.
The Tangut-led state used it for government, Buddhist texts, and cultural identity. The Khitan, another regional power, had earlier used its own state script; that is a precedent in purpose, not evidence that Tangut characters descend from Khitan writing. The last known Tangut inscription dates to 1502.
