Text symbol

What 𗹥 means

Its dictionary gloss is “run quickly.”

Tangut (also called Xixia) is a historic script for the Tangut language, created under Western Xia’s first emperor around 1036 for official and cultural use.

It remained in use into 1502; most later surviving texts are Buddhist. This does not change this character’s gloss.

Historical and specialist; it fits a message about Tangut writing.

Its visual resemblance to Chinese characters does not make it Chinese: Tangut is a distinct script.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 𗹥 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
