What 𗺷 means
One Tangut word containing it is translated as “broom.”
In a Tangut account of the Buddhist teacher Atiśa, the word appears as 𗺷𗺪. The passage translates the pair as a whole.
Created around 1036 under the ruler who became Western Xia’s first emperor, the Tangut script gave the Tangut language a written form for a state in northwestern China. Its square characters draw on Chinese-character structure but write another language. Tangut writing served government and Buddhist literature, including translations.
