What 𗾊 means
In Tangut, 𗾊 means “warehouse” or “storehouse.” It names a building where goods are kept.
Tangut is the historical script of the now-extinct Tangut language. Commissioned in 1036 for state writing and Buddhist-canon translations (a canon is a collection of sacred texts), it also appears in official writing, translations, and books. This sign belongs to that manuscript tradition.
Why can 𗾊 mean warehouse or bird?
Older encoded data conflated two distinct Tangut signs. Unicode 13.0 kept 𗾊 for “warehouse” and assigned the bird sign to 𘴃. If an older dictionary or text gives 𗾊 a bird gloss, check its source mapping and surrounding text before deciding which sign was intended.
Should I send 𗾊 alone?
Use it alone only when Tangut context is clear. Outside that context, add the plain-language gloss “warehouse.” A bird gloss is a reason to check the encoding, not to silently change the reading.
On a browser or app without a Tangut-capable font, it may appear as an empty box or missing-glyph mark. The display can fail while the underlying text still contains the same character.
Historical-script specialist; without Tangut context, the intended reading can be hard to recover.

2Why does 𗾊 show as a box?
Font support. A browser web font or installed system font needs Tangut glyphs; otherwise a missing-glyph mark may appear.
Is 𗾊 a Chinese character?
No. It is a Tangut character for the Tangut language. The script was influenced by Chinese writing but was made for a different language and tradition.
