What 𗿖 means
It means “goose” in Tangut.
Scholars reconstruct its pronunciation; published readings differ.
Created under Western Xia’s first emperor around 1036, Tangut writing served government and translation. A 1072 military message is the earliest surviving document. Buddhist books and translations of Chinese classics also survive. After Western Xia fell, writing continued under Yuan and Ming rule, then became obsolete. Though Tangut characters can resemble Chinese writing, Tangut is a separate script.
Historical, specialist vocabulary.
