What 𗿛 means
Goose.
The Tangut script was created under the first Western Xia emperor around 1036 for state-building, a Buddhist canon—a collection of sacred texts—and a distinct political identity.
After Western Xia fell, Tangut writing continued under later dynasties in official, private, and religious texts, including works translated from Chinese. Chinese writing influenced Tangut, but the two scripts are distinct.
Why does 𗿛 show as a box?
The font usually lacks Tangut coverage.
Unicode identifies the character, but a font must include a drawing for it. If none of the fonts available to your device supports Tangut, the glyph can appear as an empty box; a Tangut-capable font can display it.
Historical and specialist; the glyph functions as a word in Tangut writing.
If your recipient does not read Tangut, add a gloss; the character alone may not tell them it means “goose.”

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗿛 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
