What 𘀰 means
It means “mountain” in Tangut. Li Fanwen’s Tangut–Chinese dictionary lists it under “mountain” as entry 3976. The dictionary’s English index also records a transliteration use: a character can represent a sound in another word. That is an additional use, not a replacement meaning.
The Tangut script was developed for the Xixia (Western Xia) state around 1036, under its first emperor. Some accounts credit the teacher Iri with devising it in 1037. It served official and cultural life, including Buddhist translations, legal documents, and law codes.
After the Western Xia state fell, Tangut writing continued under later dynasties. The latest known Tangut inscription dates to 1502.
Why does 𘀰 look different?
Fonts and historical sources can draw the same character differently. Tangut sources preserve variant glyph shapes; Unicode unifies some variants under one code point when the shape difference does not distinguish another character.
A different stroke style alone does not establish a different character or meaning.
How do I type 𘀰?
Use a Tangut input method for longer passages. Tangut-specific methods vary; some use dictionary-backed codes. Follow the lookup system provided by the particular tool.
It belongs to formal, historical Tangut writing.
Without Tangut knowledge, the glyph alone may not communicate “mountain” to its recipient.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘀰 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
