What 𘃒 means
The code-based name is an index number, not a translation. A Tangut dictionary entry or the surrounding text gives its word and reading.
Tangut writing was created for the Western Xia state in the 11th century. Historical accounts link its state adoption in 1036–1037 with ruler Li Yuanhao and official Yeli Renrong; it served records and translations. An early official document dates to 1072. Writing continued after Western Xia fell in 1227, including in Buddhist texts; a 1502 inscription is a late surviving example.
Tangut writing developed in a Chinese-character environment and has been compared with Khitan, another historical script; that does not make 𘃒 a Chinese character.
Why does 𘃒 look like a box?
A box means the active font lacks Tangut coverage. A Tangut-capable font may display the character differently, but the encoded character remains 𘃒.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘃒 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
