tangut ideograph-181df

Tangut character 𘇟

4576/6136

𘇟 is a written character in the now-extinct Tangut language, not Chinese writing or an emoji. Li Yuanhao of Western Xia commissioned Tangut writing around 1036 for state-building, taking cues from Chinese forms and following the neighboring Khitan state’s earlier scripts. One likely aim was to collect Buddhist scriptures in Tangut. Tangut texts, mostly Buddhist, continued after Western Xia fell in 1227; the latest dated examples are from 1502.

Why does 𘇟 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
