What 𘊗 means
Tangut writing outlived the Western Xia state.
The Tangut script was created under Western Xia’s first emperor around 1036 to write the Tangut language. After the Mongol conquest in 1227, it remained in use through the Yuan and Ming dynasties, becoming obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty. Scholars rediscovered Tangut texts in the late 19th century; Nikolai Nevsky helped decipher them in the early 20th century.
One scholarly reconstruction gives the reading as *kiwr¹; the asterisk marks a reconstructed form. Tangut writing resembles Chinese characters but is a separate script.
