What 𘊛 means
The 2008 Tangut dictionary gives it the gloss “to suck.”
The reading is reconstructed, and references differ on its pronunciation. Its code-point label identifies the character; it does not translate it.
Why was the Tangut script created?
It was developed to write the Tangut language for a state.
Development is placed in the early 11th century. An account dated 1036 credits the official Yeli Renrong with creating the script. Other scholarship describes an earlier phase under Li Deming and standardization under Li Yuanhao, so it is best understood as a state project shaped over time.
Western Xia used Tangut in administration and education, and translators used it for Buddhist and other texts. After Western Xia fell, later manuscripts—especially Buddhist materials—kept the script in use; its role shifted from state writing to a subject of historical study.
Can I use 𘊛 in a normal message?
Use it when the Tangut context is clear.
It fits a Tangut quotation, a discussion of Western Xia, or a font test. A dictionary gloss is only a clue; the original passage supplies the fuller sense.
Historical and specialist: it fits Tangut text, Western Xia history, or font testing.
The code-point label is not a translation.

Questions people ask
2Is 𘊛 Chinese?
No. It belongs to the Tangut script. Tangut writing drew on Chinese writing, but 𘊛 is a Tangut character, not a Han character.
Why is 𘊛 a box?
The selected font lacks a Tangut glyph for it. The character is still present in the text even when the font cannot draw it.
