What 𘋖 means
It means “west” in Tangut.
The Tangut script was created in 1036 for Western Xia, a historical state. It served government and Buddhist life, and its use signaled independence from China's Song dynasty. Tangut writing also carried Buddhist texts and secular Chinese works.
A Khara-khoto manuscript, probably from the 12th or early 13th century, shows the script’s later literary use.
Why does 𘋖 show as a box?
A Tangut-capable font must draw it. If an empty square appears, the font cannot render the character; the square is a fallback, not another Tangut character.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘋖 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
