What 𘋘 means

The dictionary says “to call”; the Unicode name is a label.

Tangut was spoken in the Western Xia kingdom in northwestern China. The earliest surviving dated example is a 1072 military dispatch.

The script drew on Chinese writing but remained distinct. Neighboring Khitan rulers also sponsored a writing system, a state-building parallel. Buddhist and secular books used Tangut; Buddhist writing continued after Western Xia fell in 1227. Two Buddhist pillars in Baoding are the latest known Tangut monuments.
