What 𘖔 means
A Tangut dictionary gives a Chinese gloss, not a full translation.
Its Tangut reading is reconstructed from historical writing: a scholarly pronunciation estimate.
Why would someone send 𘖔?
A lone send needs context.
In 1036, Li Yuanhao, ruler of Western Xia (Xixia), introduced Tangut writing amid state-building. It enabled a Buddhist canon in Tangut and marked an identity distinct from Song China. The script drew on Chinese models without deriving from them; Khitan neighbors had made scripts in the 11th century. Khara-Khoto, a ruined city, yielded Buddhist and secular books in Tangut; its Buddhist volumes date from 1084 to 1222.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘖔 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
