What 𘘩 means
It means the passage connecting your mouth and chest. Tangut was spoken in Western Xia, in what is now northwestern China.
The ruler who founded Western Xia commissioned the script around 1036 to write Tangut and mark political independence. A Tangut-Chinese stone inscription dates to 1094. The script carried government records and Buddhist writings; after the state fell to Mongol armies in 1227, it remained in use during the Yuan and Ming periods.
Is 𘘩 Chinese writing?
No. It belongs to Tangut script. Its square forms drew on Chinese writing as a model, but Tangut characters are distinct and represent another language. A possible link to Khitan script, used by a neighboring people, has been proposed; one 2018 study found no close relationship.
Why does 𘘩 look different?
Different fonts can draw the glyph differently. Unicode’s reference glyph is a sample, not a required outline.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘘩 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
