What 𘙎 means
In Tangut, 𘙎 means “to give birth to.” Li Fanwen’s dictionary indexes it as L0354 with that meaning.
It is a verb stem, so by itself it is not a complete sentence or a general symbol for birth. In 𗋚𘙎, the prefix 𗋚 marks a completed action, making the phrase mean “has given birth.”
Why was Tangut writing created?
It served Western Xia’s government, religion, and literature. In 1036, Li Yuanhao, ruler of Western Xia, ordered a writing system for the Tangut state. It supported government, a cultural identity distinct from Song China, and a Tangut collection of Buddhist scriptures.
A manuscript fragment from Khara-Khoto probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century and translates a lost Chinese work. Surviving Tangut writing also includes Buddhist scriptures, Confucian works, military treatises, encyclopedias, and literature. The script continued in use after the Western Xia state fell.
How to type 𘙎?
Use Unicode code-point entry or a Tangut input method. Enter U1864E in a Unicode tool that supports code-point entry; otherwise, use an input method designed for Tangut.
If a box appears, your font may lack Tangut glyphs. Noto Serif Tangut and BabelStone Tangut Yinchuan include Tangut coverage.
Tone: literal, historical, and specialist; as a message, it depends on context.
Alone, it is not a reliable way to tell someone “give birth.”
