What 𘙏 means
To write Tangut and mark Western Xia’s distinct identity.
The court introduced Tangut writing around 1036. It drew on the visual model of Chinese writing but remained a separate script for the Tangut language. It carried official, private, and religious texts, including Buddhist scriptures and Chinese classics in translation.
After Western Xia fell to the Mongols in 1227, Tangut writing continued during the Yuan and Ming dynasties but became obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty. Scholars rediscovered the script in the late 19th century.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘙏 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
