What 𘜄 means
It is glossed “to equate” in Tangut. A scholarly reconstruction writes its reading as *ŋwer¹; the asterisk marks a reconstructed form, and ŋ is the nasal at the end of English “sing.”
The Tangut (Xixia) script was created around 1036 under Western Xia to write the Tangut language. Its earliest transmitted document dates to 1072. It served government and Buddhist writing, and continued under Yuan and Ming after Western Xia fell in 1227. Its characters resemble Chinese Han writing but form a separate script.
