What 𘜲 means
Dried rice or food carried on a journey. A Tangut–Chinese dictionary indexes 𘜲 with the Chinese gloss 糒, a word for steamed rice dried for storage or provisions carried on a journey. This gloss explains the meaning; it does not turn 𘜲 into a Chinese character.
Why does Tangut look Chinese?
Tangut uses Chinese-inspired construction, but it is a different script. That visual resemblance does not make 𘜲 readable as Chinese.
In 1036, the Tangut-led Western Xia state ordered the creation of the script for government and cultural work, including a Tangut Buddhist canon. The Khitan Small Script, created around 925 by a neighboring people, is a regional parallel, not proof that 𘜲 can be read as Chinese.
Tangut books included Buddhist scriptures, translations from Chinese and Tibetan, Confucian works, military manuals, and literature. A surviving manuscript from the 12th or early 13th century shows the script in use. After Western Xia, Tangut ceased to be an everyday state script and survived in manuscripts, scholarship, and digital text.
In a modern message, it signals interest in Tangut or historical writing rather than an everyday reaction.
Its Chinese-inspired shape is not Chinese text; knowing Chinese alone will not decode it.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𘜲 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
