What 𘝑 means
It means “jar.” Li Fanwen’s dictionary reconstructs the reading as kwä: k, a brief w-glide, then a vowel between “a” and “e”.
Created in 1036 under Western Xia ruler Li Yuanhao, the Tangut script served the state and Buddhist writing. Tangut texts also included works from Chinese and Tibetan traditions; the script’s creation followed a Khitan precedent for a state script. A manuscript from Khara-khoto probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century. Tangut writing persisted under Yuan and Ming rule and became obsolete by Ming’s end.
