What 𘝧 means
It is a Tangut character with a place in a sound chart.
Tangut's historical chart of 36 starting sounds places 𘝧 fourth in a four-sign dental group. “Dental” means the tongue makes a sound near the teeth. The chart classifies a starting sound; its position is not an English or Chinese translation.
How did the Tangut script begin?
It was created for the Western Xia state in the 11th century.
Tangut writing gave the Tangut language a state script for official records and translated works, including Buddhist texts. Accounts differ about its makers: one credits court attendant Yuqi with a first draft, ruler Li Yuanhao with additions, and official Yeli Renrong with editing and promulgating it; another attributes the creation to Li Yuanhao.
An official Tangut document dated 1072 is the earliest surviving example. Tangut writing continued after the Mongol conquest of Xixia in 1227; stone inscriptions were still erected in Baoding in 1502. The script's history connects it with Chinese writing models, and scholars have also proposed Khitan influence. Neither connection establishes an ancestry for this individual sign.
Historical and specialist: in a modern message, it points to Tangut writing or discussion of the Tangut script.
A chart position is not an English or Chinese gloss.
