What 𘞗 means
Dictionary glosses: “race,” “offspring,” and “seed.”
𘞗 is a word in Tangut, a historical language. The surrounding Tangut text determines which English gloss fits; the character on its own does not settle the intended sense.
Why did Western Xia create Tangut writing?
To write Tangut for the Western Xia state.
Historical records place the script’s creation around 1036, shortly before the Tangut-ruled Western Xia state emerged. They describe a fast project credited to one or a few creators. The script served official, private, and religious writing, including Buddhist translations.
Tangut signs borrowed stroke forms from Chinese writing but formed a separate script for the Tangut language. After Western Xia fell, Tangut writing continued under Yuan rule and into the early Ming; the latest known examples date to 1502. The Unicode label is an index name, not a translation of 𘞗.
Use 𘞗 in a Tangut text quotation or a reference to the script; alone, it gives little context to readers unfamiliar with the language.
Without surrounding Tangut text, you cannot tell which of the three dictionary glosses is intended.

2Is 𘞗 Chinese or Tangut?
Tangut. Its writing borrowed Chinese-style strokes, but 𘞗 belongs to a separate script for the Tangut language.
Why does 𘞗 show as a box?
A font without Tangut coverage cannot draw it, so a device may show a missing-character box. The text can still contain 𘞗.
