What ౦ means
Use ౦ for zero in Telugu-script numerals.
It marks an empty place in decimal notation, so 10 differs from 1. As of 2026, Telugu-script digits are uncommon in general text; the familiar 0 is also used.
Indian decimal place value appears in an inscription dated 595 CE; zero-bearing examples are dated 683–687 CE, and a Gwalior inscription records 270 in 876 CE. Telugu and Kannada descend from Brahmi, an ancient Indian script, and developed as distinct scripts around the 13th century.
