Tibetan Digit Two

35/211

༢ is the Tibetan number two, used for counting and calendrical calculations. In manuscripts, a Tibetan numeral can also label a page. Its shape is text drawn by the font, not emoji artwork; if it arrives alone, ask what the sender is counting.

What ༢ means

༢ means two in Tibetan number writing. A Tibetan numeral 2 can be a counted quantity or, in manuscript numbering, a page label.

A Dunhuang Tibetan manuscript dated 750–1000 is catalogued with pages numbered partly by letters and partly by numerals. Tibetan numerals also appear in calendrical mathematics. Mongolian and Todo digit sets derive from Tibetan digits; ᠒ is the corresponding Mongolian form. The shape comes from the font, not emoji artwork.

Questions people ask

1

Why does ༢ show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
