What ꘚ means
It is an old Vai word sign for “hear” or “understand.”
The Vai script developed in the 1830s, chiefly through Mọmọlu Duwalu Bukẹlẹ, who said a dream inspired him. Possible influences include Latin, Arabic, Cherokee, or an earlier picture-based script. The earliest known Vai writing sample, dated 1834, records a wish to write in Vai; around 1845, The Book of Ndole records ꘚ with this meaning.

Questions people ask
1Why does ꘚ show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
