What ︇ means
It has no standalone reading.
A variation selector follows a base character and asks software for a defined glyph form. Unicode sequence data checked on 2026-10-08 lists no standardized or emoji sequence using FE07, so it requests no recognized variant.
Why was this selector created?
It belongs to a plain-text system for choosing glyph forms.
The general-use variation-selector range entered Unicode 3.2 to let text request a defined glyph variant without encoding every typographic form as a separate character. Mongolian free variation selectors serve a separate, script-specific role.
Why is Variation Selector-8 invisible?
The selector itself has no visible glyph.
When a FE07 sequence is unsupported or invalid, the base keeps its ordinary display and the selector remains invisible or is ignored.
An exact test string can therefore contain FE07 with no visible sign that it is there; inspect its code points in a Unicode-aware editor.
What it means when someone sends it to you
3 readingsThere is no base character whose glyph form it could select.
