What ꅤ means
In standardized Liangshan Yi, ꅤ represents the syllable spelled “ndu.”
The standardized Liangshan Yi (Nuosu) script was devised in 1974 and promulgated in 1980. It covers one regional Yi tradition, not every Yi language or writing tradition. Older Yi writing served village priests, who used it for religious, magical, medical, and genealogical texts. The earliest surviving dated evidence is a bronze bell inscription from 1485; that date does not establish when ꅤ itself first appeared. Traditional Yi writing was not derived from Han writing and is unrelated to Tibetan, Burmese, and Tai scripts.
