What ꑚ means
It marks one syllable within a Yi word.
Bimo, Yi ritual specialists, used older Yi writing for religious, magical, medical, and genealogical texts. An early surviving Yi inscription is on a bronze bell dated 1485.
Devised in 1974 and formally issued in 1980 for literacy and publishing, the Liangshan standard draws on older northern Yi forms. Regional Yi writing traditions are not interchangeable. Han writing influenced the region, but this syllable is not derived from a Han character.
