What ꐍ means
It records one syllable in standardized Liangshan Yi. Yi Pinyin spells it qux; the final x marks a secondary-high tone, not an English consonant ending.
Traditional Yi writing appeared in different local forms, with changing character sets and writing directions. The earliest surviving Yi inscription documented for this tradition is on a bronze bell dated 1485. Village priests used Yi manuscripts for religious, magical, medical, and genealogical work.
A Latin spelling scheme for Liangshan Yi appeared in 1956. A standardized writing system with one character per syllable was devised in 1974 and officially promulgated in 1980 to support literacy in that dialect. It descends from traditional Yi forms, but it is not a universal script for every Yi variety.

In a message, ꐍ is best read as Yi text or a character sample; context supplies any wider message.
