What ꛵ means
It separates phrases in modern Bamum writing. Under King Njoya, Bamum writing began around 1896. After several revisions, it changed from signs representing words or ideas to the A-ka-u-ku syllabary, where signs represent spoken syllables, by the early 1900s. Earlier Bamum texts did not use punctuation; ꛵ belongs to this later writing system.
In the later revisions, Bamum punctuation drew on European conventions, and the Bamum word recorded for “comma” was borrowed from a Western language. The script was also used for history, administration, correspondence, maps and other writing.

fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
