What ꛳ means
It tells a Bamum reader that the sentence is finished. This is the full-stop role within modern Bamum writing.
From 1896–1910, Bamum writing developed through stages, from experiments where signs stood for whole words or ideas toward a syllabary, where signs represent syllables. Earlier Bamum texts had no punctuation, so ꛳ belongs to a later stage of the writing system.
Modern Bamum also has marks with roles familiar from other punctuation systems: colon, comma, semicolon, and question mark. In related Shümom writing, the sentence-ending function is called “jak”; in Bamum it is called “pon”.
What does it mean when someone sends ꛳?
As of 2026, no separate chat meaning is established. If someone sends it alone, read it as Bamum sentence punctuation; ask what they meant if the surrounding context is unclear.

No. It is punctuation in Bamum writing: sentence position gives it its role, while the font determines its shape.
Why does ꛳ show as a box?
Your font lacks a Bamum glyph. Try a font with Bamum support, such as Noto Sans Bamum; its shape may vary, but its sentence-ending role does not.
