What 🔕 means
The bell's alerts are off. As a mute icon beside a chat, it usually means messages still arrive without pings. Sending the emoji itself does not change any settings.
Why did someone send me 🔕?
They may be asking for quiet or taking a break. Before sleep, work, or a meeting, read it as a heads-up that replies may wait. Alone, it does not tell you whether they are annoyed.

2Worth knowing
- The characters behind 🔕 existed in Unicode 5 years before anyone was allowed to draw them in colour: Unicode 6.0 in 2010, emoji presentation in 2015.
- 🔕 is a single code point, so it survives copying through almost anything — old databases, SMS gateways, printer drivers.
