Block Octant-1468

402/686

𜶗 is a terminal-graphics tile: it fills positions 1, 4, 6, and 8 in a two-column, four-row grid. Kaypro used it to draw pictures in text cells. Alone, it has no fixed subject; a font without its glyph may show a missing-character box.

What 𜶗 means

It is a reusable graphics tile, not a pictogram. An octant divides a character cell into two columns and four rows; positions are numbered across each row, top to bottom. Adjacent tiles meet edge-to-edge to form a continuous mosaic.

Kaypro's 1980s graphics set stored this pattern at D6. Semigraphics means drawing pictures with text characters: each cell acted as eight on/off pixels, giving the text display a coarse graphics mode. Unicode's legacy mapping keeps it available to old files and emulators.
