What means
It fills two cells in an eight-part tile. Kaypro home computers of the early 1980s used semigraphics: each text cell stood for eight tiny on/off pixels, letting software draw pictures with character sequences. An encoding proposal submitted in 2021 mapped this Kaypro pattern into the octant set. The suffix 36 names the filled parts; read it as one tile in a larger image.
Technical and geometric, with a retrocomputing feel.
If it appears as an empty box, your font may lack the glyph; Cascadia Code added octant support in April 2024.

Questions people ask
1Why does show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
