What 🬋 means
It fills the middle pair of a six-cell mosaic.
The two-column, three-row tile fills cells 3 and 4, its middle pair. Teletext, a UK TV text service developed in the early 1970s, and Minitel, France's telephone-based videotext service, used 2-by-3 mosaics for simple graphics.
The 2018 Unicode proposal named these blocks “sextants” by analogy with existing “quadrant” blocks. Teletext controls selected joined cells or narrow gaps. As of 2026, Notcurses uses sextant grids for terminal pictures; fonts without 🬋 may show a blank or replacement mark.
