What 𑄚 means
In one Linux Chakma layout, press n for 𑄚.
As of 2026, the Institute of Policy Dynamics documents a Debian/Ubuntu keyboard layout where n enters 𑄚 and Shift+n enters 𑄕. Its page says a native Chakma typist has not reviewed the key placements, so treat it as one project-specific option.
What is 𑄚 used for?
It marks the Chakma consonant n inside words. Chakma is an abugida: each consonant letter carries a built-in long “a” sound, which vowel signs can change.
The Chakma script descends from Brahmi and is also called Ajhā pāṭh or Ojhopath. As of 2026, the Chakma Autonomous District Council describes village medicine men as preserving it through handwritten records of medicinal plants, herbs, and roots. Chakma is written in Bangladesh and India.
Why does 𑄚 look different in a word?
Regional glyph forms and joined letters can change its appearance.
Chakma’s virama, a mark that joins consonants, can form a joined cluster that appears as a letter tucked below another or as a ligature—two letters drawn as one shape. In 2001, the book Cāṅmā pattham pāt recommended a Chakma spelling reform: standard joined forms would use five consonant letters, including naa.
A 2009 proposal to encode Chakma noted glyph variations between India and Bangladesh, including rounder forms in some fonts. Chakma text shaping also needs software that positions script parts together: without a Chakma font, a box may appear; without shaping support, a cluster can break. These regional or font forms are still the same letter.
Neutral in Chakma writing; unclear as a standalone reply to someone who does not read Chakma.
Alone, it may not communicate the reaction you intend.

2Can I send 𑄚 as an emoji?
No. It is a Chakma letter and appears as text, not as an emoji.
Why does 𑄚 render as a box or broken cluster?
A box usually means the font lacks a Chakma glyph; a broken cluster can indicate missing shaping support. The character itself is unchanged.
