What Ꮔ means
It writes the Cherokee syllable transcribed “nu”; the full word gives its meaning.
Sequoyah developed the Cherokee syllabary—a writing system whose signs represent spoken syllables—from 1815–1821. The Cherokee Nation adopted it in 1825. The bilingual newspaper Cherokee Phoenix began printing Cherokee beside English in 1828.
Ꮔ belongs to Cherokee’s n series with Ꮑ, Ꮒ, Ꮓ and Ꮕ; each marks a different syllable beginning with the same n sound. Cherokee teaching materials still teach the syllabary (as of 2025).
This is a Cherokee writing character, not an emoji; alone, it has no fixed chat reaction meaning.

Questions people ask
1Why does Ꮔ show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Cherokee block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
