What ◓ means
Its reading comes from the diagram or notation around it. Weather station plots use a station circle’s fill to show cloud cover. Harvey-ball rating charts split circles into segments to summarize qualitative comparisons. If ◓ stands in for one of those marks, the legend tells you what the fill represents.
The Harvey-ball system took shape in the 1970s to compare long columns of report data compactly; it later appeared in client presentations and comparison tables.
In an ordinary message, ◓ reads as a technical mark; without an agreed notation, the recipient cannot tell what it labels.
Don’t read the black half as a percentage until you see the legend.
