What 唐 means
It preserves a CNS source identity. Taiwan's CNS 11643 assigns it T6-357E; Unicode keeps it for lossless round trips. Its official variant-character list, published in 2007, files it under 唐.
唐's history predates this encoding: an early Chinese character dictionary glosses it as “big speech,” with 口 (mouth) for meaning and 庚 for sound. Traditional records add “broad,” “empty,” a courtyard path, the legendary Yao polity, the Tang dynasty, and use as a surname.

Questions people ask
1Why does 唐 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Compatibility Ideographs Supplement block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.

唐\2F842Why is 唐 a box on my screen?
fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
