What 嗂 means
To preserve a source position in CNS 11643-1992. The Unicode chart pairs this form with plane 4 source code T4-3C50 in that character-encoding standard and maps it to 嗂. The Shuowen Jiezi, an early Chinese character dictionary, glosses 嗂 as joy and analyzes it as the mouth component 口 plus 䍃, its sound-bearing component. The later Song-era Guangyun, a dictionary organized by rhyme and pronunciation, gives a close gloss: pleasure.
A historical Chinese character with a technical encoding distinction.

Questions people ask
1Why does 嗂 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Compatibility Ideographs Supplement block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
