What 𣻑 means
It is a legacy form of 𣻑, read shā in Mandarin.
Han characters are writing signs used in Chinese and some neighboring East Asian writing traditions. The Kangxi Dictionary, a reference book for Chinese characters completed in 1716, records 𣻑 as a waterway name and also with the sense “cold.”
Why does 𣻑 have a separate code point?
It preserves a source distinction needed for round-trip conversion.
Its source reference ties it to Taiwan's CNS 11643 character standard. Unicode kept source-specific forms like this so older records could convert to Unicode and back without losing the original code distinction.
Normalization maps 𣻑 to 𣻑. The standardized variation sequence—𣻑 followed by UFE00—preserves the distinct glyph form through normalization.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𣻑 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Compatibility Ideographs Supplement block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
