What 濆 means
It means “riverbank” or, in another reading, “spout water.”
Mandarin readings fén and pēn mark those senses. The Book of Odes, an early Chinese poetry collection, uses 濆 for the Huai River’s bank; a Ming dynasty text describes a spring surging out.
Why is U2F912 a compatibility character?
It keeps a source-specific code available in older text.
CNS 11643-1992, Taiwan’s encoding standard, records it in plane 7; a 2001 DPRK KPS proposal also maps a source form to it. This code lets text round-trip to Unicode and back without losing its original code.
Unicode normalization for U2F912 reduces it to 濆 in NFC, NFD, NFKC and NFKD. U6FC6 UFE00 is its standardized variation sequence for the distinct glyph.

Questions people ask
1Why does 濆 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Compatibility Ideographs Supplement block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
