What 𦖨 means
It preserves a character-set distinction.
The supplement preserves distinctions needed for round-trip conversion with planes 3–7 and 15 of the 1992 CNS 11643 standard. Round-trip means converting text to Unicode and back while keeping its source entry intact. 𦖨 belongs to that compatibility set.
Why does 𦖨 become 𦖨?
Unicode normalization maps it to 𦖨.
This is an ordinary canonical mapping, so routine text normalization can replace 𦖨 even without compatibility folding. If the original encoded entry matters, retain it before normalization.
Technical and archival: keep it when the exact source-code distinction must survive conversion.
Will normalizing 𦖨 change it? Yes; Unicode normalization maps it to 𦖨.
Drift: In 2025, CNS source reference T5-4874 moved from 𦖨 to 𦖝; 𦖨’s canonical mapping to 𦖨 remains unchanged.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𦖨 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the CJK Compatibility Ideographs Supplement block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
